These people just can't get a simple order right and it starts at the top with the GM. She doesn't seem to care and would rather make excuses than fix the problem. We have been there 5 times and our order has been wrong every time! Pass on this place and hopefully they go out of business so we can get something better there I ended up ordering the turkey chili with no problems, tasty, but the encounter itself left a bad taste in my mouth.
Many Paneras for example, the one in Russett can do gluten-free meals. This one has major problems. I have gone here for more than two years, so the following is based on a reasonable amount of experience. First, they have high staff turnover. Every time I visit, there is a completely new batch of people taking orders.
The ones who do know what it means inevitably ask me if I want bread for my side! Even on good days, the kitchen gets orders wrong more often than right.
If you have a severe allergy, you should stay away. Ordered our usual Fuji Apple Chicken Salad with a packet of potato chips. Manager came over to confirm order and allergy handling needs. The woman taking my order was rude and annoyed that I asked her what gluten free options there were. She said nothing was gluten free except salads. I took my chances with a salad went ok but she was extremely rude and not knowledgeable about gf options. Not many choices, but the Fuji apple salad without the side of bread is good.
Would give zero stars if I could. Loads of cross contact. They took all necessary precautions and took my wheat issues very seriously. Got a salad and still got sick. Shame it was one of my favorites I have Celiac, and I work for a different location didn't want my manager to think I was bad-mouthing our restaurant , but I know how Panera trains their staff, and their policy on gluten-free food. Panera is unsafe for Celiacs, which is why they say they have "gluten-conscious" menu items, but not gf.
Unfortunately, the veggies for the salads are cut on the same cutting board as all the bread. There is flour in the air that they dust on the bread after it's done baking. The bases for all the soups are processed, and I doubt that they are processed on a dedicated gluten free line. At my location, I ordered an iced coffee and I asked the barista to change her gloves, and she argued with me.
Maybe at some locations, the staff are really sweet and will try to accommodate you, but, even if they try, chances are the food is already cross- contaminated. Since I work there, I only trust coffees and teas that I have prepared myself, soda from the machines, and certain canned drinks that are certified gluten free. Panera is always a bad choice for those with celiac.
I ordered a salad gluten free and it came with some sort of croutons on top. When speaking to the manager, she tried to defend the staff, saying that they cannot prevent cross contamination from occurring. First of all, this is not cross contamination, but a blatant disregard for my dietary needs. I would not recommend. Place has mainly breads and pastries with very few GF options. Panera has nothing for gluten free. It is a bread company. Absolutely nothing for GF. No GF options for breakfast.
Staff seemed inconvenienced to check ingredients when asked. Super good! The manager came over and assured me that there was no cross contamination. Lots of options! Manager did not give any gf options. I got a Caesar salad with chicken and did not get sick. I used other reviews online to order but staff was very unaware of what gluten was. Google the menu before you go. Panera is a HUGE disappointment. You are stuck with limited salads. Not a huge selection, but the potato soup is gluten free and very yummy.
I had the Greek salad with the potato soup and chips. Delicious teas and lemonades. For dessert try the coconut macaroons or the Triple chocolate with walnut cookie which are both gluten free. We are not welcome here. Manager was extremely rude when I inquired about gluten friendly options. He even denied having salads that were GF even though the national website says they have salads and more.
Guess he was warning me about unsafe kitchen conditions so i took his word, left, and will never return. We have tried to eat here many times and each time there's some error that makes the food unsafe to eat. They have put rolls on top of gluten-free salads, even though I've made it clear that the entire order is gluten-free.
They've forgotten the chips that were substituted for a gluten roll, it's always something. Not possible to have anything gluten free. Flour is on everything and bread crums everywhere. Both lists, which can be found on panerabread. Menu items that are gluten-free without change:. Menu items requiring modification:. If so, let me know in the comments how your experience was. Now they can come in and enjoy your atmosphere and eat without worries. Panera Bread is still a favorite of mine to meet with friends. Please consider. Thank you. You left out the Grain Bowls.. Please offer some gluten free bread. At age 68 I became gluten sensitive. Really miss the asiago bagel.
Interestingly you can get salads made gluten free, but if you look at everyone of the salad dressing choices they all list wheat? Who wants a salad without salad dressing??? Hey JoAnn, Most of their salad dressings are gluten-free. Not sure where you are seeing that information. My doc recently told me to avoid wheat, corn, dairy and eggs. Hey Ella, Ya, I agree.
Restaurants and fast food places can be hit or miss when it comes to accommodating for gluten-free. Hopefully one day they will have something.
