Where to find ship of the line pirates

Let me know! I don't particularly like the idea of making it obtainable for players. It would be far too overpowered, as the only ships that would stand a chance against the broadsides were other ships of the line.

To me, it would take away from their uniqueness. Another problem is the rating system of the sotl's. Basil Seaskull Swashbuckler. I personally have always like the idea of adding a whole new line of ships. Just my thoughts, but i do see where Roger is going with them being overpowered. It wouldn't be very fun if one broadside takes out any ship in the game except bounty hunters and other sotl.

MikeCooky Honorable Pirate. I personally hope to not see SOTL being made obtainable for players. It's already possible to get an overpowered ship, overkill isn't fun imo. DragonZaid Wanted Pirate. Even with the current war ships, one can almost fully sink certain npc warships with a single open-fire broadside even without ship upgrades.

In my opinion a more powerful ship would be very out of place. MikhailSkulls Honorable Pirate. Yulia Pirate Master. MikhailSkulls said:. Essentially, it is a Ship of the Line that has had the the top deck s , along with some of the heavier guns on those decks, cut off. They are commonly considered the most devastating ship in the game. You just don't know what naval supremacy is until you've stood at the helm of a fully-upgraded, fully-armed Ship of the Line with men aboard.

In Sid Meier's Pirates! The "Ship of the Line" is the largest member of its class, and is also considered the most powerful ship in the entire game. Finding a Ship of the Line is extremely difficult, as it is the rarest ship in the game — it is not unheard of to finish a game without ever seeing one. Only its battle capability matches its rarity; ergo, attacking a Ship of the Line is very risky and dangerous.

Once captured, however, the Ship of the Line serves best as the Flagship of your Fleet. Even without upgrades, it should be able to handle any threat that comes your way. Additionally, it can also prove useful when attacking cities, especially if you intend on flipping a city to another nationality, making it both a useful raider or invasion force. A head-on battle with a Ship of the Line can be difficult and dangerous—especially if the player is unprepared—but even more difficult is actually finding a Ship of the Line.

In order for an enemy Ship of the Line to spawn, the following factors and conditions must be taken into consideration:. Studying these points gives a fairly obvious set of guidelines to follow in order to spawn Ships of the Line. The most straightforward strategy seems to be to 1 anger a non-Spanish city and placing it under siege; 2 sinking every merchant ship that leaves its ports; while 3 allowing "improvement" ships such as New Governor ships and Immigrant ships to enter, so that the city remains Wealthy.

This extremely basic strategy seems to work cities which tend to stay Wealthy if not directly assaulted, such as Barbados. Repeatedly sinking a particular city's merchant ships—as well as the pirate hunters that come after you— will quickly raise the bounty on your head, increasing the level of discontent for that city. You must, however, stay out at sea for as long as possible, or at least have a friendly port nearby where you can repair and replenish, or else risk missing a Ship of the Line sailing out of your besieged city.

I was always a royal sloop guy Showing 1 - 11 of 11 comments. View Profile View Posts. Oh man that's sick. Haven't seen a SOL since i started playing the game 4 years ago! If you have a save file from when you find it that would be great. The Ship of the Line are cool ships! My last game I aquired one along with a couple of tresure ships to hold my cargo.

I found out that you need approx gold for every crew member to keep them happy and when I reached that point I began my quest to find another SOTL, and then another until I hade around happy crew members and 8 SOTL's. It was fun because if you needed to change your flagship for battle I usually had another fully loaded SOTL ready for battle. With that many ships in your fleet the last two or three ships would always run into a reef and sustain hull damage.

Royal Sloop's the king for me. Nothing matchs it for manuoavability an once all the upgrades are on, it at least evens on broadsides and crew for SOL. Last edited by Telfram ; 4 Oct, pm. My current fav is the War Canoe - easy to sail and maneuver at any difficulty - usually untouchable in combat unless I screw up and it is wipred out if a larger ship catches it in a full broadside - so I pack a spare canoe as a finisher in case that happens.
